Evening Adhkar – Complete Guide, Arabic, Meaning & Virtues
Evening Adhkar are the daily supplications taught by Muhammad (s.a.v.) to protect the believer after sunset until the next morning. These adhkar bring calmness, protection from the unseen, spiritual strength, and forgiveness.
They are ideally recited after Maghrib until midnight, but the best time is right after sunset.
1. Ayatul Kursi
Arabic
اللّٰهُ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ…
Virtue
Whoever recites it in the evening is protected until the morning.

2. Last Three Surahs (Ikhlas – Falaq – Nas)
Arabic
قُلْ هُوَ اللّٰهُ أَحَدٌ
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ
Virtue
Reciting each surah three times protects the believer from harm throughout the night.
3. “Hasbiyallah” – 7 Times
Arabic
حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ، عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ
Meaning
“Allah is sufficient for me. There is no deity but Him. I place my trust in Him, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.”
Virtue
Recite 7 times after Maghrib → All worries and harm are removed.

4. Sayyidul Istighfar (Master of Repentance)
Arabic
اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ…
Meaning
A complete declaration of tawhid, repentance and surrender to Allah (c.c.).
Virtue
Recited in the evening with sincerity → whoever dies before morning enters Jannah.

5. “Bismillahil-Ladhi…” – 3 Times
Arabic
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الَّذِي لَا يَضُرُّ مَعَ اسْمِهِ شَيْءٌ فِي الْأَرْضِ وَلَا فِي السَّمَاءِ…
Meaning
“In the name of Allah, with whose name nothing can harm in the heavens or the earth.”
Virtue
Reciting 3 times protects from all harm until sunrise.
6. Evening Dua (Allahumma Bika Amsayna)
Arabic
اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَمْسَيْنَا وَبِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا…
Meaning
“O Allah, by You we reach the evening and by You we reach the morning…”
A powerful dua for starting the night with gratitude and protection.
7. Dhikr: SubhanAllah – Alhamdulillah – Allahu Akbar
Evening version:
- SubhanAllah – 33
- Alhamdulillah – 33
- Allahu Akbar – 34
